Eartharmony is an ethical, traditional counter-service shop for unpackaged wholefoods, herbs and spices and vegan ingredients, treats and chilled food, refill body and household cleaning liquids and plastic-free personal and home care.
We sell plant-powered products for every room in your house and support regenerative farming and health and wellbeing by choosing organic versions of everyday essentials. We stock a large range of allergen-free foods and personal care products for sensitive skin.
When Eartharmony took over Sue’s Sustainables in November 2020, it was at the start of the second Covid lockdown. Our artist and crafter friends had nowhere to sell their items, so we offered them some shelf space. Customers loved it so much, that we still have on display and for sale:
* paintings big and small by Heather Turner Art
* dainty porcelain figures by Little Fairy Art
* shelf-sitting sockys and stressheads by Mazzasmonkeys
* jute baskets and scrubbies by Rusty’s Room
* recycled silver jewellery by Sarah Knight Jewellery
Licensed to sell alcohol, we have carefully chosen organic, vegan, and some sulphite free wines, beer, cider and prosecco. For coffee lovers, we have organic, biodynamic and Fair for Life coffee beans which can be freshly ground on request. We also sell a large range of loose-leaf teas and herbs for tea, tinctures and balms.
Passionate about permaculture and community resilience, we host a seed bank where anyone can donate or collect vegetable, flower, and herb seeds for free. Our amazing friends from Earthed Up! do a pop-up stall in front of our shop on Fridays during spring and summer with edible and useful perennial plants and lots of advice and enthusiasm!
Another part of our #goodfoodfridaysbelper campaign is the organic veg boxes from Pingle Produce in Wirksworth. These are ordered from their website but collected from our foyer every Friday. Vegan Revelation Cafe, our amazing neighbours, offer deliciously moreish meals made with Pingle veg and ingredients from our shop - watch out for some vegan cooking workshops with owner and founder Leise, and fermenting workshops with Dena from Sprout in Derby.
Rambling Rose’s Remedies is a great monthly event when our friend Rose demonstrates how to make balms, syrups and drinks from locally foraged plants. We stock a lot of the plant material used, to make it easier for anyone to get more familiar and comfortable with identifying and appreciating the healing power of plants.
We understand that it isn’t always possible to avoid plastic packaging or find the time to drop various items in different places for advanced recycling. Hidden Potential Recycling C.I.C is a small project we started when taking time out from permanent employment to explore self-sufficiency and permaculture principles. You can buy a blue bag at our shop and fill it with more than 30 different hard-to-recycle items, which then gets distributed to various locations or sent off to TerraCycle for recycling.
We are a family-owned business, we love getting to know our customers and always love a good chat!
If you struggle to get to the shop, we offer free delivery to DE56 postcodes. When our new ecommerce website is ready, you will be able to save money with our Wednesday Club, or time with our Friday Club - follow us on social media for live updates!
See you soon!
